Send In The Clones...

DATE: -0/5-/2004
COMPANY: LucasArts
PRODUCT: Star Wars: Republic Commando

I know the wait is tough, but May 19, 2005 is only a year away. To pass the time, LucasArts is rolling out Star Wars: Republic Commando for the PC and Xbox.

First announced at Microsoft's E3 press conference last year, Star Wars: Republic Commando will show players a darker side of the Republic's Clone Army. As a squad leader of an elite Republic Special Operations unit, it is your job to lead your group of four clones in operations behind enemy lines. Beginning on the hostile planet of Geonosis at the start of the Clone Wars, Republic Commando will take players through eight unique environments, including a Republic Assault Ship and the forests of the Wookie homeworld of Kashyyyk. Squad based missions will include assassination, infiltration, sabotage and quick hit raids on Separatist Forces. In the course of their missions, the commandos will face off with Battle Droids, Geonosian Warriors and Trandoshan Slavers.

The easy to use squad-based system is very easy to use. As the clone commander, all you have to do is point to a location, press a button and your squad will do the rest. Although linear in structure, the missions always keep you busy and still give you the freedom to handle some aspects of the mission as you see fit.

Online play will also be available, featuring deathmatch and capture the flag matches for up to 16 players online on the Xbox (via Live) and PC.

Look for Star Wars: Republic Commando later this year.
