ATARI Brings New Games To Show Room Floor

ATARI released its 2004 lineup at E3, containing many games from their hit series' as well as a few new faces.

ATARI?s main push at their booth was Driv3r. This is the third part to the hit mission-based driving series. In this installment, you will take your career across three major cities: Miami, Nice and Istanbul. Plus, 50 or more vehicles will put you on over 150 miles of highway, and in the water with boats. And Driver?s trademark Film Director feature comes back; this feature allows you to record all of your action as well as set up the cameras for the best angles.

Yu-Yu-Hakusho comes back for its second game. This time Yuske and his gang will be placed in a fighting game called Yu-Yu-Hakusho: Dark Tournament. This game offers several different modes of play. Besides the standard Survival and Arcade modes, there is also a Story Mode (based off of the Dark Tournament saga in the anime series), and a Card Game Mode that allows players to use the cards they gained in battles for a new strategy card game. Dark Tournament comes out for the PS2 on August 17th.

Another anime hit is also returning. Dragon Ball Z has two major games coming out this year, Dragon Ball Z: Buu?s Fury (an RPG) and Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors (a fighting game), both of which are for the GameBoy Advance. Though it is under a different title, Buu?s Fury seems to be the third part in the Legacy of Goku line. This game starts off after the defeat of cell, and Goku must train in otherworld. Buu?s Fury follows the DBZ series to the end when Buu is defeated.

DBZ: Supersonic Warriors is a fighter, but this time you can take the fight in the air. For the first time ever on the GBA, the players will have the ability to fly at will, thus making the battles that much more intense.

ATARI also had a movie of Marc Gecko's up and coming urban action/adventure game called Gettin' Up. This game is a tale of repression and revolution and is being developed by The Collective, the brilliant minds that brought recent games like Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. While all we saw was a quick movie, it looks to be shaping up to be an interesting entrance into the action/adventure genre.
