Activision Has Demons, Spiders, And Flaming Pigs

DATE: -0/5-/2004
COMPANY: Activision
PRODUCT:

Activision has been around since the days of the Atari 2600, and their lineup this year is stellar.

From the world of Marvel comics comes Spider-Man 2 and X-Men Legends. Spider-Man 2 is based on the movie coming this summer from Columbia Pictures. Very similar to last years Spider-Man the Movie, Spider-Man 2 will have players swinging between skyscrapers and battling villains. Aside from the movie?s villain, Dr. Octopus, players will be able to battle other classic Spider-Man villains such as Mysterio. X-Men Legends takes the frantic mutant battles we're used to from X-Men games, but adds an RPG spin.

The Movies is the next big game from award winning developer Peter Molyneux, the man responsible for games like Populous and Black & White. The Movies puts players in control of their own movie studio where they must manage props, production, and even actors suffering from alcoholism or even sexual addiction. Players can take direct control over the movies being made, controlling endings, settings, and even props. You can even save your movies and share them with friends.

PC gamers who were fans of the hit WWII shooter Call of Duty now have even more reason to celebrate with the announcement of the expansion Call of Duty: United Offense. Adding a new single player campaign with 10 new levels and 9 new multiplayer maps, United Offensive looks to treat players with even more WWII action. However, PC gamers aren't the only ones with something to look forward too. Console owners will be treated to their own Call of Duty adventure this year with Call of Duty: Finest Hour. Not a remake or expansion of the original Call of Duty, Finest Hour contains three new campaigns with completely new missions, levels, and characters.

Strategy fans aren't left out either thanks to Rome: Total War. The latest game in the Total War series, Rome: Total War allows players as much or as little control over their armies as they want. If the Gaul's giant elephants cause you too much trouble, just make use of the Roman secret weapon, flaming pigs.

For those who prefer games with a darker atmosphere, Activision offers up Vampire: The Masquerade-Bloodlines and Doom 3. Based on the White Wolf RPG Vampire: The Masquerade, Bloodlines uses the technology behind Valve's Half-Life 2 to create a dark and gothic RPG experience. Unless you're new to the world of gaming you've probably heard about Doom 3, and this looks like the year it will finally be released. Created using id's latest 3D graphics engine, Doom 3 hopes to use hyper-realistic graphics to immerse you in a terrifying journey through hell itself as you battle hordes of demons.

Finally, we have two games based on upcoming movies, DreamWorks' Shark Tale and Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.
