Arcade Come Home...

DATE: -0/5-/2004
COMPANY: SNK
PRODUCT: SNK Combo Packs

The one thing every gamer wants is an arcade in their home. While it may not be exactly the same, at least without building your own arcade cabinet, SNK is bringing gamers one step closer to this dream with the release of two combo packs for the PS2 and Xbox.

Set to release before the end of the year, The King of Fighters 02/03 combo pack brings the eighth and ninth installments of the King of Fighters series to both systems.

King of Fighters 2002 brings together 39 of the greatest fighters from the SNK stable and teams up fighters like Andy Bogard and Mai in intense 3-on-3 battles. During these fights players will be able to utilize an upgraded Max-On power system and over-the-top Super Special moves.

Marking the rebirth of the series, King of Fighters 2003 entangles players in a complex web of human relationships and slowly reveals the fate of a new hero and an evil new entity. Fighting moves beyond the fighting and gives it purpose. Using the new Multi-Shift system, players can freely shift between characters during fights. Leaders can also be named using the Tactical Leader System.

If fighting games aren't your style, SNK is also offering up a double hit of one of the best 2D shooters in years, Metal Slug.

In the year 20XX, a cyber-terrorist group has unleashed a computer virus with the sole intention of hijacking the militaries of the world. Metal Slug 4 places you in the role of Marco, Fio and new Metal Slug team members Trevor and Nadia as they try to stop the virus from spreading. Action takes place across six stages in non-stop action across air, land and sea.

In Metal Slug 5, the team sets out to reclaim the stolen plans for the next-generation of Metal Slugs. Their mission will lead them deep into the Corridor of Fire where they will have to recover the plans and defeat the paramilitary group known as the Ptolemaic Army. They will also have to face off against the Doomsday Machine, a terrifying weapon that combines the mysterious powers of ancient runes with the science of the Metal Slug technology.

Release details are sketchy, but expect to see both combo packs early next year.
