If you liked the mature FPS action 007 Agent Under Fire brought to Gamecube, you?re gonna frickin? love Sierra?s upcoming Die Hard: Vendetta. This little beauty is due Fall 2002, and although there are still improvements and tweaks to be made, our tour through a few levels of the game at E3 left us salivating for more. First of all, the story goes that John McClane?s daughter has been kidnapped, which really pisses him off. And we?ve all seen what that can lead to. Sierra went for gore and grit, and this will more than earn its Mature rating. In one scene, to demonstrate the NPC interaction that makes Die Hard: Vendetta unique, I watched as McClane snuck up behind a guard, grabbed him and put a gun to his head. 2 other guards in the room were alerted immediately but held their fire and eventually put down their weapons at the urging of the restrained guard. Then, in a quick motion, McClane snapped the hostage?s neck and mowed down the other guards before they could pick up their weapons! Yeah, it is gory, but Gamecube will benefit from this game just as it will from Resident Evil, Eternal Darkness, Metroid Prime and other titles aimed at a more mature audience. There are 12-14 levels with sub levels, so expect plenty of time to completion for this one. Some other really neat features in the game are the ?Hero Points? rewarded for performing special moves, and the cut-scenes that reward you at certain places in the game based on your actions. This game is looking incredible!
