E3 is THE place for game companies to show off their new products. It's common for a hardware company to introduce five or ten products annually. MadCatz had twenty-three...

Among these 23 new products, there were a few that really stood out... MadCatz' MicroCON controllers, for example. These controllers for PlayStation 2, Xbox and Gamecube are smaller than the original equipment controllers, perfect for gamers with smaller hands and comfortable for others as well. The MicroCON controllers feature rubberized grips, dual analog joysticks, fully analog pressure-sensitive action buttons and D-pad, and intense vibration capability. Additionally, the MicroCON controller for the Xbox features two expansion bays (for memory cards or other game enhancements) and both the Xbox and PS2 compatible MicroCON controllers feature macro programmability. All feature a braided steel (!) cable of at least 8 feet. (9 feet for Xbox.)

MadCatz also had new entries for the wireless arena: the Lynx wireless controllers for Xbox and PlayStation 2. Working on 900Mhz radio frequency technology, the Lynx controllers don't suffer from signal degradation due to obstacles or direction / orientation of controller during gameplay. Simply plug in a low-profile antennae into your console (and make sure you have batteries in your controller) and you're ready to play at distances of up to 40 feet. Like the MicroCON controllers, the Lynx wireless controllers feature fully analog pressure-sensitive action buttons and D-pad, dual analog joysticks, rubberized grips and built in dual vibration capabilities. The Lynx also features two modes of operation: analog and digital. Additionally, programmable macro capabilities for complex moves will be featured in the Lynx wireless for Xbox.

Another category that MadCatz jumped onto is the dance pad, with their 'Beat Pad'. This digital controller for dance and action games features four-way directional control and 10 high-performance action pads. During the last day of the show I jumped on it too - and made a fool of myself attempting to make Britney Spears do my bidding. The pad was fine. I, on the otherhand, should avoid dancing games. Go figure. The Beat Pad works with all dance games including Konami?s Dance Dance Revolution and THQ?s Britney's Dance Beat. It?s also compatible with PlayStation and PlayStation One dance games.

All-in-all, MadCatz' line looked pretty strong - not to mention the sheer number of new products being revealed. For more information on this wide range of products, check out MadCatz' website
