...Prices that is. Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that as of May 14th, 2002 the Sony PlayStation 2 console will be dropping in price from $299 to $199. With this DVD-playing, PS2 playing, PSOne playing gaming system dropped below the $200 mark, I expect to see a good number of more cautious gamers jumping into the PS2 experience.

Many have been considering a PSOne for younger audiences, with it's smaller pricetag. Now, the PS2 price is a little easier to handle. At the same time, Sony also announced a price drop on that system as well, however; from $99 to $49. Now at less than 50 buckaroos, it's likely that nostalgic PSX owners will replace their systems, regardless of whether or not they have a PS2. The PSOne is simply perfect for carrying with you on trips (say... to E3...), while the PS2 takes up a little bit too much space (or so my wife insists...). At least now if your system 'disappears' from the hotel room while you're at Universal Studios, it will cost less to replace it...
