Capcom 'Zeroes' in on the GameBoy Advance

Although Capcom has given GBA owners two excellent Mega Man games, neither had the classic Mega Man style fans really wanted. All of that is about to change when Mega Man Zero hits later this year. Even though I wasn't able to play the game for long, what I saw rocked.

After being chased into a junkyard, a group of scientists discover the legendary Zero deactivated and chained up. Seeing him as their only chance of survival, one of the scientists activates Zero, begining his adventure. You begin the game armed only with a gun, but during the first boss battle, a mysterious computer gives you a light sword. The control options are difficult when you first begin to play, since you have to hold the R button and B to use the sword, but once you get into the heat of battle it makes total sense.

Mere screen shots do not do this game any justice. Although it may look like a typical Mega Man, some of the transparency and scaling effects are incredible.

Though it was not found on any of the press releases, the Capcom 'upcoming projects' book included some of the first shots of Mega Man X7 for the PS2. We'll have more as soon as they give us more.
