Can Buffy Come Out and Slay?

Buffy sure has taken her sweet time deciding to slay on a particular console. Originally planned as a PSX game, she soon made her way to the DC and PS2 until finally settling on the Xbox. Normally, this is cause for concern and usually points to a less than great game - but it is safe to say that it was worth the wait.

Buffy: The Vampire Slayer takes the fast paced action of the Bouncer and combines it with the skill feeling of Onimusha. Odd, yes - but it's a lot of fun. In addition to her standard punches and kicks, Buffy also has access to various implements of vampire slaying such as a holy water-shooting squirt gun and the standard, always reliable stake. As if that was not enough, she can also use her environment as a weapon. For example, pushing a vampire into sunlight will burn them. If you can think of it, you can probably do it.

As if it couldn't get any sweeter, the game also contains actual voices from the show (all but Sarah Michelle Gellar, although her stand in sounds just as good as the real thing) and plays like two interactive episodes. Fans can also expect to see many familiar faces, including the Scooby gang (no, not THAT Scooby gang) and the Master. Look for Buffy: The Vampire Slayer later this summer.

I think all that cr*p about a 'Game Vortex' and some 'Team PS2' is some punk kids on our radio frequency. If you ask me, we oughtta..."
