Chasing Amy Bill

BAM! showed off its only exclusive Xbox game to us at E3, a little number called Chase. Chase puts you in the driver's seat for the filming of 4 action movies that require some fantastic car stunts. That 'fantastic' bit depends a lot on your skill behind the wheel, by the way. The Microsoft 'feeder' program produced this first game from I-Imagine Interactive, and although the obvious comparisons to Driver and Stuntman are there to be made, Chase brings some unique elements to the table. Possibly more open-ended and transparent in how it leads you through stunts than Stuntman and worlds away from Driver in its graphics, Chase is impressive for a game that isn't even due until September.

Multiple modes should be available in the final version, but the main stuff is in Movie Mode, where you play an up-and-coming stunt actress named Chase Corrada. Chase takes on over 25 stunts to complete the action scenes for 4 movies set in different time periods, driving vehicles ranging from 1920's vintage cars to big-rig trucks and motorcycles. As she moves up the ranks, she'll earn 'reputation points' and be rewarded with new scenes and levels. There is a nice playback of your stunt after it is completed, right down to grainy sepia tones for the 1920's footage! A Point Duel and Stunt Race Mode should also be in the Fall release, and BAM! promises that Chase will be the deepest stunt driving game available when it hits stores later this year. Too bad we won't see this one for other consoles, but that's why they call it an exclusive, kiddies.
