In my many, many years of gaming, I've played a number of incredible action games. However, of all of the games I've played only one has managed to remain as one of my all-time favorites: Gunstar Heroes.

The game's premise wasn't anything too complicated -- you basically ran around side-scrolling levels, shooting everything in your path and occasionally taking on a boss. What made the game so much fun to play and replay was it's speed of play and deep gun-combination system that let you combine what would otherwise be a mundane series of guns into an arsenal of insanely-powerful weapons.

With Gunstar Super Heroes, Treasure is going to great lengths in order to insure that the original's run-and-gun gameplay remains intact. You'll once again take on the persona of either Red or Blue. Each character will have a different path through the game, giving players two experiences. Gameplay is fast-paced and non-stop, which means you'll need an army's worth of firepower, something that Gunstar Super Heroes will surely deliver.

In addition to side-scrolling, platforming levels, Gunstar will also feature levels that take place on top a moving ship and some big-time boss battles, such as one who will use a small ship as a weapon.

No release date has been announced for Gunstar Super Heroes, but if the original was any indication, it will be worth the wait.
