E3 2005: Level Up
Solid Snake. Fluid Mouse.
Product: Diamondback Gaming Mouse
Company: Razer
Date: 05/28/2005
Avaliable On:

Staying true to their naming convention, Razer has selected a new snake to name their latest gaming mouse after. The new Diamondback sports 1600 DPI Precision, a 16 bit data path and 5.8 MegaPixels per second. That's a frame rate of over 6400 frames per second.

You get 7 physical buttons optimized for gaming response and independently programmable, gold plated USB connector for maximum conductivity and a 7 foot, lightweight, non-tangle cord. And, you still have the on-the-fly sensitivity adjustment that made the Diamondback's predecessors so sweet. Also, the configurations and settings are stored internally in the mouse, so you can configure your mouse on one PC and then take it with you to another PC and have your configurations instantly available without setting them up again.

In addition to the Diamondback, there is a limited edition Diamondback PLASMA. This limited edition mouse is a cool blue color, rather than the red of the Diamondback. Both versions are available in a Chameleon finish that has a very appealing look.

Regardless of which snake you choose, you're going to want a good mousing surface if you're serious about gaming. The eXactMat is just what you need, with a "Speed" surface side and a "Control" surface side, to suit your gaming style. The eXactMat includes a rubber non-slip mat with a built-in gel wrist rest. It can be used for any mouse you please, but is designed to best complement the Diamondback gaming mouse.

Check back for in-depth reviews when we get these for some hands-on evaluation. I'm excited. The Razer products have been impressive since I first found out about them back in the BoomSlang days.
