One of the best adventure titles to come out in a while is returning with all new scenes, characters and puzzles, and Digital Tainment Pool was kind enough to give me a sneak peak of Runaway 2: The Dream of the Turtle.

Runaway: A Road Adventure followed an unassuming character, Brian, as he is thrust into a mystery involving ancient relics and the mafia. By the end of the game, Brian ends up with the girl (Gina) and a vacation. The Dream of the Turtle starts off where the first game ends. The opening sequence is a shocking animation of Brian pushing his new wife out of a plane. She barely has enough time to pull her chute and glide safely (well... we assume safely) to the forest jungle below. In a similar manner to the first game, we jump ahead to Brian sitting in front of a computer messaging Yoshi (the hermit/hippie from Douglasville in the first game), explaining the events that led him to his current problems. Within the first few minutes of the game, you learn not to trust everything you see. It turns out that the plane Brian and Gina were on was out of control, and there was only one parachute. Brian gives it to Gina, gets her out of the doomed vessel and rides the aircraft to its demise. Now Brian must trek through thick jungles and Gilligan-esque lagoons in order to find his bride.

During your trip through the island, you will meet up with characters ranging from your stereotypical surfer type, to the rough and gruff military man. Runaway 2 will also sport a series of puzzles that range from standard, simple problems to larger ones that require getting past several smaller obstacles. You will also find many of the standard adventure mechanics in this game, like combining objects to complete tasks. But, unlike most adventure titles, just because the game lets you combine two objects, or use an item with something in the environment it isn't necessarily the correct thing to do. For instance, early on you find a toy dog with a weak bladder. You also find a different types of liquids -- but instead of only being able to use one of the liquids with the toy, all of them can be poured inside. Only one of the combinations is correct though, so choose wisely. Currently, there is no American publisher for The Dream of the Turtle, but look for the review on GameVortex as soon as it reaches the states.
