Vivendi Games has two dragon games slated to come out in the coming year, The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning and Eragon.

Fans of the Spyro line rejoice, finally we get to see the origins of not only Spyro himself but this mysterious legend and prophecy that we keep hearing about. Spyro takes it upon himself to discover his roots, and along the way he starts to evolve from the kid-dragon we have come to love into a living, breathing weapon of explosive destruction.

The Legend of Spyro is being crafted by Australian developer Krome Studios, of Ty the Tasmanian Tiger fame (for the consoles and GBA) and Amaze Entertainment for the DS. These developers will not only provide a wide range of aerial and ground-based melee attacks, but also upgradeable breaths and an RPG-like dragon-level-up system.

A New Beginning hosts several big names as voices. Spyro the Dragon will be brought to life by Lord of the Rings' Elijah Wood while Sparx will be played by David Spade and Gary Oldman will be the voice of Ignitus, the Fire Dragon Elder and Spyro's mentor.

Look for this new Spyro adventure to come out this October on the PS2, Xbox, GameCube, GBA and DS.

The other dragon-related title, Eragon, is an action/adventure title based on the popular book and upcoming movie of the same name. This game will feature co-op gameplay with team attack bonuses and dragon fight/flight combo systems. You will play as Eragon and his dragon friend and the two of you will grow not only in strength, but also in magic as your characters learn more about themselves and their destiny. Eragon will come out this Fall on all three current generation consoles as well as the GBA, DS and PC.
