The programming team at CCP has been very busy working on the upcoming mega-expansion, The Path To Kali. While this expansion also involves a lot of 3D model upgrades, Reynir Hardarson (Founder of EVE Online) managed to find time for most of the art department to work on a side project he's been wanting to do - a Collectible Card Game.
I have seen the artwork for the cards in PDF format, and have to tell you they are quite beautiful. So far, 250 cards have been designed for the EVE Online CCG, with the possibility of introducing some additional cards with the launch of "The Path To Kali" - an upcoming expansion for EVE Online.
When I was talking with Magnus Bergsson, the CMO of CCP Games, he admitted to me that he typically didn't play Collectible Card Games, but that even he found the EVE Online CCG to be fun to play.
The cards are being manufactured by the same company that does Magic: The Gathering and, as the cards have just gone into production last week, you can look for them to hit store shelves sometime around August 2006. |
