With the prevalence of modding these days, it makes sense that it's extended to consoles. The problem with modding consoles, of course, is that it's not easy to repair and swap out parts inside of a console, so you really don't want to void your warranty.

One way to express some individuality without risking your console is to "skin" your console so that it has a new look - something that reflects your personal tastes. These "Skins" are decorative sheets that cover the exterior panels of your console (without blocking exhaust vents) and can be found from different companies with a variety of colors, themes and patterns. There are certain things to consider when skinning your console, however, and these are what set Gamer Graffix apart.

When you choose your skin, it's going to be something you like... then. However, people change and your favorite game or musician can easily be replaced, leaving you wanting to switch to a new skin. For this reason, it's important that the skin be easily removable. Some out there aren't, but Gamer Graffix's skins feature a patented specially formulated adhesive which holds their skins on firmly, but removes without any residue and can be re-used. That way, even if your console dies on you and you have to replace it, you can just move your skin to your new one.

Additionally, while some skins are simple stickers cut to the appropriate shapes to be applied to a console, Gamer Graffix skins have an optic clear epoxy dome that is flexible, washable and has a thickness of 35 Mils, where competition typically have 3-10 Mils.

These skins are high-quality and, although I don't believe they boast this feature in their fact sheets, could easily keep your console from getting scratches on its surfaces. Not only could you be reflecting your own style - you could be protecting your hardware investment. Think about it - when you buy brand new electronics, such as a computer monitor or radio tuner, they often come with protective plastic coverings (skins) over the surfaces that are most easily damaged (typically displays or high-gloss areas). Gamer Graffix skins work in much the same way to help keep the surface of your console in mint condition - something that might come in handy if you decide to sell it later and put the money toward a new console when a new generation rolls around. Gamer Graffix has an impressive product and process - so much so that we may work with them to produce some GameVortex themed skins in the future - something to look forward to as we rapidly approach our 10th anniversary!

If you haven't heard of Gamer Graffix before, check their website out. They have skins for all major consoles and even some cool iPod skins.
