ATARI's Episodic Game

Alone in the Dark is ATARI's next-gen gambit. With it's release on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, as well as the game's promise of episodic content, Alone in the Dark should be a fun survival-horror title. Instead of being one huge game that drags on, Alone in the Dark attempts to take a cue from the Television industry by providing a series of short 30-40 minute gameplay segments as episodes, all leading up to a season or series finale at the end of the game. Each episode will end with a cliff-hanger in a "24"-like fashion, keeping you on the edge of your seat and not being able to wait for the next installment. When you load up a saved game, you will be treated to a quick "last time on" animation to help remind the player where they were and what they were doing.

Alone in the Dark is planned for a simultanious release on all three platforms, so don't expect to see this title until at least Q4 (after the PS3 launch).
