Sega is planning on taking several of its series to the next gen era on Sony's new PlayStation 3. These games include Full Auto 2: Battlelines, Virtua Fighter 5 and Virtua Tennis 3.

Full Auto 2: Battlelines is the sequel to the Xbox 360 racing title that released late last year. In this shoot-em-up game, you will tear down buildings and streets in order to find new routes that will help you get ahead of your opponents. Full Auto 2 will have over 25 vehicles and 20 different explosive weapons for you to mix and match in order to find the combination that fits your fighting/driving style the best.

Battlelines supports both a single-player campaign that takes you across six different districts of Staunton City as well as six multiplayer modes. These multiplayer matches include modes like Base Assault and Team Deathmatch and can support up to eight players in online mode.

Sega also brings its classic fighter onto the PlayStation 3 with Virtua Fighter 5. With 17 fighters, including two new characters, VF 5 should be a good all around arcade-style fighter. The two new characters are El Blaze and Eileen. El Blaze is a lightning fast Mexican wrestler while Eileen follows the Monkey Kung Fu style. Virtua Fighter 5 will come out in the Spring of 2007 for both the PS3 as well as on arcade (see the image at the bottom of this article for a peek at the new arcade cabinet).

Virtua Tennis 3 is the third installment of Sega's tennis franchise. With its leap onto the next-gen system, players will be able to see an unprecedented level of detail as gamers travel across the world to take on the biggest stars in the tennis sport. The game's create-a-player feature also gives gamers a new level of control when designing their ideal tennis champ.

These three continuations of Sega series (both old and new) look like they will do a good job of showing off what the new PlayStation will do. Lets hope that if nothing else, these titles provide good solid fun.
