Dead Head Fred is a dark yet comedic title being developed exclusively for the PSP. It takes place in the twisted 1940's world or Fred Neuman, an unfortunate private detective who has pissed off the wrong mob boss. He loses his head in the process. Poor Fred. Through some wacky scinece experiment, he is brought bnack to life, although sans head and memory. Try solving your own murder without an head!

So the new mechanic on this one is that you are able to swap out different heads to facilitate newer types of gameplay. See a head you want on an enemy? Rip it off and add it to your growing collection. You can keep up to 9 heads at a time and each do different things. For instance, if you need to cross into a higher area but can't reach, the Rotting Corpse Head is perfectly pliable and you can suck in some air, blow it up like a balloon and float to your destination. Blocked by fire? Suck in water and spray the fire out like a water hose. A rotting flesh water hose, that is. Need to break though something? Try the Stone Head to bust on through. Think of it as 9 different characters you can be, all with upgrades possible. If your health starts to deplete, swap out with a healthier head while the other regenerates. Your health is worms (what else? You are dead after all...) and you'll also utilize the worms in mini-games such as cock-fighting (The Feather Dome) and a fishing game.

This one is a platformer with a locked camera, so you won't have to worry about constantly repositioning your camera for optimal view. It will do it for you. With 30+ hours of gameplay and a style that is somewhere between Tarentino, Sin City and your local cemetary, Dead Head Fred certainly looks like one to watch for. Look for it in early 2007.
