After finding success on the PC, the Warhammer series of strategy games is finally heading over to the PSP and DS with Warhammer 40k: Squad Command.

Gameplay is turn-based and gives you command of a group of six Space Marines. The game will feature a number of weapons from the Warhammer Universe as well as enemies from Chaos, who will serve as your main adversaries in a series of 15 missions. Some missions will even find you in control of Imperial Guards or vehicles. The game will be identical on both systems, though the DS will use a touch-based interface, while the PSP version will have improved visuals.

In addition to its single-player component, Warhammer 40k: Squad Command will also feature an online component. The PSP version will support up to eight players while the DS will support six. Online you can choose any of the game’s available factions and square off in Skirmish modes. Both versions will support text chatting as well as voice chat and online leaderboards.

No release date has been announced, though it looks like on-the-go strategy fans could have one more game to look forward to.
