Build-a-Friend on DS
Product: Build-A-Bear
Company: The Game Factory

The Game Factory will be introducing a new license to the Nintendo DS this Fall. Building upon the popular Build-A-Bear store experience children can have, they've developed a game where kids can recreate the entire experience at home and then take their new friend and embark on all sorts of activities and mini-games within their house.

First, you'll select an animal type in Choose Me, whether it be an actual teddy bear or a monkey or frog, etc. Then you'll take him to the stuffing area and fill him as full as you want to with fluffy stuffing in Stuff Me. Then you'll stitch him up and fluff him in Fluff Me, just as you would in the real-life experience at the Build-A-Bear store. Your new friend will then go to his very own home (just like the little cardboard condo you'd take the real one home in) and there, there real fun begins.

You can go into the kitchen and use a recipe to create a dish a la Cooking Mama. You can take him into the bathroom and give him a bubble bath and groom him with the brush. You can go into the attic to play mini-games such as the one depicted in the screenshot. Here, your job is to collect honey and avoid the spiders. There's also a game of musical chairs. You can also unlock various accessories, over 150, to dress your friend. Once he's all dressed up, you can take him in for a photo shoot and take pictures with various backdrops and from various angles. You can then share your photos and accessories wirelessly with your friends. Using the touchscreen, you'll have to learn special moves for different challenges. You can even go outside and play on the swingset in special mini-games where you swing as high as you can trying to shoot a basketball into a basket from the seat.

Build-A-Bear on DS is a sweet little game that looks like it will incorporate some of the more popular elements we've seen on the DS such as cooking and accessorizing characters with the beloved Build-A-Bear license. Look for it this October.
