Just ahead of their E3 Media Briefing, Nintendo announced a brand-new accessory for the Wii – Wii MotionPlus.
The new accessory, which plugs into the Wii-mote’s expansion slot, works with the accelerometer and sensor bar to more quickly and accurately reflect motion in 3-D space. In other words, the device will allow the Wii-mote to get an even better idea of a player’s arm position and orientation, allowing for incredibly precise motions. Even small movements will register and will be reflected on the screen in real time, providing true 1:1 response during gameplay.
Nintendo hasn’t announced any further details about MotionPlus, but considering the rabid desire for a lightsaber game and the recent announcement of an exclusive Star Wars: The Clone Wars tie-in game for the Wii, I wouldn’t be surprised if the two somehow found each other. Then again, it could just be my rabid desire for a Wii lightsaber game giving me the old Jedi Mind Trick.
