If their E3 Media Briefing was any indication, PSN is set to become a major focus for SCEA in the coming months. While items like Home and the recently-launched Video Service are gaining most of the attention, PSN’s downloadable games service is also proving to be a major tent pole for the service. Of all the games coming to the service, one of the more interesting is Fat Princess.

Fat Princess is a team-based action game that pits teams of 16 against each other in a massive battle royale. Massive doesn’t just refer to the size of battles, but the size of the goal. Your goal in Fat Princess is to rescue the princess from a dragon. The catch is that your adversary has been stuffing the girl full of food in order to fatten her up, so you’ll have to enlist an entire army to carry her back to the castle.

Getting the princess home safely is only part of the battle. Players can use a variety of team-based tactics like manning massive battering rams to knock down the enemy’s doors or forming human pyramids and scale the tallest walls. You’ll also have to work together with your team to collect resources in order to upgrade your weapons and improve your castle’s defenses. This involves switching between jobs by literally switching hats on the fly. You’ll be able to switch between five different jobs; Warrior, Archer, Mage, Priest and Worker. Players will also be able to create their own personal in-game avatars, adding a personal touch to the game.

Fat Princess includes both online and offline single and multiplayer games. In addition to the game’s title mode, Rescue the Princess, you’ll also be able to participate in Medieval Games and Invasion Modes.

No solid release has been given for Fat Princess, but this is definitely something that is worth watching.
