I showed up a little late for the Sony Press Conference, missing the very beginning. [BEGIN RANT] This wouldn't have been an issue if Sony would have their press conference BEFORE the show, instead of DURING the show, and provide adequate parking.[END RANT]

Sony showed a live demo of MAG, a 256-player online game. MAG is a squad- and platoon-based military game, 128 vs. 128 players. Additionally, it appears that you can call air strikes and recon, but it seems that the air strikes are actually A.I., so there must be some "support" positions that aren't played by human players. The main focus of MAG appears to be the 256 player aspect, which is not necessarily a bad thing; it's an interesting twist to the squad-based genre. The trick will be seeing if the game can remain stable with 256 players, if the game is fun with A.I. stand-ins and whether players can actually manage to organize themselves into a cohesive force of 128 players.

Square-Enix has been busy; in 2010, they are slated to release Final Fantasy 13... and Final Fantasy 14.

Little Big Planet will see new DLC; Disney Interactive will be offering various licensed costumes for Sackboys.

A title that had been referred to by some as "Trico" as it's the third game in the "Ico" series has been announced as The Last Guardian. With a really large, injured dog-like dragon thing, this game reminded me of The Neverending Story. The graphics in this game look phenomenal.

They showed Gran Turismo 5 and it looked awesome, but that was really no surprise. Also shown was a God Of War III live demo, which looked pretty good. One of the amazing visuals was when Kratos disemboweled a centaur. It was really detailed... and pretty gross. Ew. Still, the crowd seemed to receive it well.

All in all, there were a lot of announcements and things to see at the Sony press conference at E3 2009. My only complaints would be the fact that it was held during the show and that there was no available WiFi Internet access. Perhaps next year...
