It seems every conversation I have with friends at some point or another deteriorates into us spouting random movie quotes or performing full-blown scene re-enactments. It’s great for us, but for everyone else, it is confusing and a bit awkward. With Yoostar, that should change.

In a cruder sense, Yoostar is karaoke with video, or at least that’s what I thought before playing with the system at E3. The Yoostar system, which will be available this August, gives you the opportunity to star alongside major stars like Marlon Brando, Tom Hanks and Elmo. The system comes with everything you need to turn your home into a small movie studio right out of the box: a studio-grade webcam with noise-cancelling microphones, portable green screen and selection of clips from movies from every major studio.

Setup is incredibly easy and requires no digital FX experience. Everything is performed by the software. During my hands-on demo, I got the opportunity of a lifetime and sat behind President Obama during the State of the Union address. All I had to do was choose the scene, then record myself against the green screen. My scene was a silent one, but there’s an option to print lines if needed. A few sleepy head nods and a rabbit ears to the Leader of the Free World later, and there I was right in the scene.

Once filmed, you can upload your performance to the Yoostar site or add it to your Facebook page. A number of filters will lock out any attempts at nude scenes and language filters will ensure Elmo doesn’t have to hear any “special words.” Parents can also set ratings filters for movies.

Yoostar ships with 14 scenes (or 32 performances) from every major studio with future scenes available on the Yoostar site after the product launches this August.
