Karaoke Revolution Revitalized!
Product: Karaoke Revolution
Company: Konami
Date: 06/13/2009
Avaliable On:

Thank God, Konami has shaken off the American Idol veneer that has stained the Karaoke Revolution license for years now. After what I saw at E3, my faith is once again renewed in the series and I am hoping that this new iteration will bring it back to its former glory.

Gone are the stupid judges and back are the customizable avatars! Now, with ever more choices, you can make your character look exactly like you want, no matter how wild and crazy that may be. And not only can you mod your avatars, but you can also custom design your venues. That's right, make your own! Tweakers out there will love the ability to rock out in a design all their own, and you can customize up to six venues.

The best part of all is masters tracks - 50 news ones to jam to, including contemporary hits like Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours," Lady Gaga's "Just Dance," All-American Rejects' "Gives You Hell," and Incubus' "Love Hurts." But you'll even find classic tunes like Rod Stewart's nasty jam, "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy." Also, there will be plenty of DLC in the form of new licensed songs, venues and clothing.

Career Mode is back, along with Party Mode, so they are reaching back out to the lone wolf, but not alienating the party people - just as it should be. There are 10 new venues, in addition to the ability to ceate your own earlier mentioned, plus an option to play the original music video in the background. Looks like they are learning a few things from SingStar. The game will be compatible with the existing library of 200+ songs, and you'll be able to use either wireless or USB mics, for greater flexibility (PS3/360 only though).

I played a round of Karaoke Revolution at E3 2009 and the game is looking sweet. The interface I love is still there, but with a fresh look and it feels spot-on. Personally, I can't wait!
