I got a chance to play some Warriors Orochi 2 on the PSP at E3 2009 during my Koei appointment. Warriors Orochi is a crossover of the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors license, continuing both storylines. Warriors Orochi 2 features three new game modes: Dream, VS and Survival, plus VS mode "Tag Team"-style matches that pit fighters in head-to-head combat!
I must admit that I was a bit worried about the translation of a Dynasty Warriors-style game on the PSP, fearing that the controls might be a bit awkward. I was pleasantly surprised, however, when I played Warriors Orochi 2 and found that the controls were pretty good and the gameplay was actually quite fun. In the mode I was playing, I controlled three different heroes, one at a time, and was able to switch between them quickly with a single button press, allowing me to quickly switch to the hero with the attack that best fit what I was up against at that moment. I look forward to giving this game a full, in-depth review in August, when it releases.
Warriors Orochi 2 will include 96 playable characters, 2-Player VS and Co-op and new scenarios. This game is rated "T" (Teen - Mild Suggestive Themes, Violence) by the ESRB. |
