Based on one of Cartoon Network's leading shows of the same name, The Secret Saturdays follows a family who take on challenges with both a scientific and a mystical approach.

In the demo, I was able to play as Zak, his mother and his “brother” Doyle, but Zak's father, Doc and even their pet cryptids, Zon, Komodo and Fiskerton, will have roles to play in this adventure.

The Secret Saturdays: Beasts of the 5th Sun will have you mostly controlling the show's main character, Zak, as he uses his Claw staff to swing from platforms, double jump with its extension ability and, of course, control cryptids for everything from fighting to getting them to leave the screen so that they don't mess up any machinery (these last types are basically switches so that doors will open).

The demo on the show floor started off with a basic tutorial of Zak running and jumping around the Saturday's secret home, but when they find themselves under attack by some cryptids, he gets called into action. But he can't do everything on his own. There were times when I had to switch to Doyle, and use the cat-person's agility to clear a path to let Zak continue. Other parts have you run into Zak's mother, Drew, to control her, who uses her fiery sword to cut down the enemies and make much shorter work of them.

The developers of Beasts of the 5th Sun were able to work with the show's creators to come up with 30 brand new cryptid creatures, but many of the show's staple enemies will make appearances, especially Van Rook, Piecemeal, Munya and V.V. Argost.

The Secret Saturdays: Beasts of the 5th Sun will be released on the Wii, PlayStation 2, PSP and DS this Fall.
