Nyko Puts the Lime in the Coconut

Every now and then, a third-party hardware company does something that makes so much sense you can't figure out why the OEM controller didn't do it in the first place. One of those two-great-tastes-that-taste-great-together sort of things, if you will. This is the case for Nyko's Wand+ controller. Based on their original Wand motion sensing IR controller for the Wii, the Wand+ simply adds in the MotionPlus-compatible "Full Motion" technology, providing "...1:1 movement tracking fully compatible with all Wii Motion Plus games without the need for any extra dongles or add-ons."

While I understand that when the Wii first shipped, MotionPlus wasn't around and that it was designed to utilize an expansion port on the Wii-mote, it seems that once it was introduced, it would have been obvious to build a Wii-mote with the same form factor that included the MotionPlus feature.

We currently have an original Wand controller in-house and will be reviewing it within two weeks after returning from the show, and we hope to also review the Wand+ in the near future, so check back for fully in-depth reviews on those.
