Power A's Lineup

Share:

Power A has been around a while, but until recently, was primarily involved with less sophisticated accessories, such as carrying cases and styluses, rather than controllers or sensor bars. Their main focus was licenses, which still plays a big part in their lineup, with products featuring licenses such as Shrek, SpongeBob, Star Wars, LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Indiana Jones, Mario, Pokemon, Bakugan and Rock Band.

Now that they are making more sophisticated hardware, they are further developing products with these licenses. They were, for example, showing a pair of currently available lightsaber accessories for the Wii-mote that they developed, one styled after Anakin Skywalker's and the other after Yoda's. Additionally, Power A was showing a prototype of an upcoming larger Wii-mote lightsaber, which is nicer for players with larger hands. This larger unit was designed in the style of Darth Vader's lightsaber and accomodates the MotionPlus unit as well as the Wii-mote itself.

Power A's licensing goes beyond just characters, however, as they've had some success with getting their products officially licensed by console manufacturers. Take, for example, their Power Stand controller charging stands. Both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 versions are officially licensed by Microsoft and Sony PlayStation, respectively.

For owners of PS3 Slim systems who are missing the ports that the original PS3 had, Power A has created their Media Expansion bar. This unit is designed to match the design of the PS3 Slim, fits onto the front of the unit, increases the number of available USB ports to four and also adds media readers for CompactFlash, SD Card/MMC and Memory Stick PRO Duo media. We have one of these in-house, currently, so check back for a full-fledged review in the next few weeks.
