More M.O.O.R.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 brings back the previous title's M.O.O.R. (Massivly Open Online Racing) functionality and seamlessly blends it into the game's single-player experience.

While driving around either the island of Oahu (the setting of the first game), or Ibiza (an island in the Mediterranean Sea), you can encounter other players and challenge them to races as seamlessly as you can go on normal single player challenges. What's more is that now you can get out of your car and socialize with other racers either in the car shops or while waiting for all of the competitors to join in on the race.

We got to see a lot of this multiplayer interaction during our demo. Besides being able to get out of the car, walk around and talk to the other players, we were able to get in other player's cars and drive around with them. On top of that, the human drivers are fully customizable including hair, clothes, physique and attitude. While driving through the streets, we came across another vehicle (actually it was the demo machine about two feet from ours), and with a few flashes of the headlights, a challenge was made and accepted and a race was on its way.

We also got treated to a few of the game's new day/night and environmental elements, as well as little tidbits like raising and lowering the convertible’s top. It's details like these that make it obvious Eden Games did as much as they could to make Test Drive Unlimited 2 one of the more realistic and complete driving games at the show this year. This effect is, of course, enhanced by the inclusion of some of the biggest names in car manufacturers like Gumpert, Koenigsegg, Aston Martin and Audi, along with tons of customizable options for your vehicles.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 will hit the streets September 21st on the Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows.
