Uber-Realistic Fake Combat

Greg Hastings Paintball 2 not only increases the number of players on the field and adds new gameplay options over the previous title, but it also strives to be the most realistic paintball experience short of actually going out and firing off a few rounds.

Greg Hastings Paintball 2 does this in a number of ways, the least of which is the sheer amount of fields taken from real-world locations. The game boasts a total of 62 arenas spread across the U.S. and Europe and on top of that, you will get to play through these fields in everything from rain, fog, wind and mud.

Players will also have an outstanding amount of control over their characters as they are able to slightly adjust their guns in order to peek around cover and expose as little or as much of their bodies as they want. Abilities like crouching or going prone combined with quickly being able to switch hands joins the finely articulate aiming controls to give players as many strategic possibilities as possible.

Players can also manage their 10-person teams by doing everything from trading characters, to upgrading skills and customizing their gear. The equipment customization lets you change markers, goggles and jerseys, but the real fun comes in the variety of weapons available in Greg Hastings Paintball 2. This game offers the latest in paintball weaponry as you can use everything from standard pump guns, to high-speed and highly accurate pistols, to paint grenades and even paint rocket launchers. Of course, team management doesn't stop on the sidelines either. While in a match, you can control your squad with a series of field commands that can be used to distract opponents while other shooters move around to flank enemies.

Greg Hastings Paintball 2 also offers 20 player multiplayer over Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, so two full teams can go head-to-head online in seven different multiplayer game types. The Wii version on the other hand, only supports 8 players. The online multiplayer options are staples like Capture the Flag, Elimination, Point Capture, Assault, Single Flag, Sniper and Recon. Local multiplayer is also an option as two people can go split-screen for either a co-op experience against bots or go competitive and take each other on.

There are a few other additions this time around that are sure to make the game interesting. One is known as the "Cheat Meter." This ability gives you the chance to wipe the paint off of your mask before anyone sees that you are hit in order to stay in the match. Another detail is the trading card mechanic that will allow you to trade with other gamers over cards of 1000 real-life professional and amateur players. And finally, there is an improved Map Editor that is supposed to be easier to use then the previous game's model.

Greg Hastings Paintball 2 takes to the field mid-September, so any paintball fans out there should keep an eye out for this game.
