Wii-Thriller

What better way to get younger kids off of the couch and dancing than to use the very music they are already listening to. I'm of course referring to the songs by kids, for kids, Kidz Bop.

For those of you that aren't familiar with the group ... well, lets face it, this game probably won't interest you. But for the sake of thoroughness, here is what Kidz Bop is about. Basically, its a group of kids that do covers of popular music, and when necessary, change the lyrics so that any inappropriate words or messages are censored. This allows the group to do semi-risky songs and still let kids sing and hear them. Well, this series of compilation albums have gotten so big that the 18th collection is about to hit the streets.

So, like I said, since so many kids are already listening to this group, it's no wonder D3 and Art Co. are teaming up to bring a dancing game to the Wii filled with Kidz Bop covers, and that's what Kidz Bop Dance Party! The Video Game is all about.

This game uses your Wii-mote to recognize how closely the kids are following the on-screen directions as they turn, shake, clap and dance their way through the game's 24 songs. These songs include "Get the Party Started," "Fire Burning," "Thriller," "Paparazzi" and "Party in the USA." While at the show, we were given the chance to try out Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and have the game guide us through the classic dance sequence that compliments the song.

One of the nice details about Dance Party! is that it really knows its audience and doesn't do anything to discourage the kids. The game is all about getting up and dancing to the music, and as a result, there are no penalties for errors or missteps. That isn't to say there are no scores involved. Since you can have a second player join in, the game offers both a 2-Player Challenge option and a head-to-head versus one where the players try and get the top score.

Kidz Bop Dance Party! The Video Game also comes with highly customizable characters that will let you do everything from change the hair to the clothes, after of course, purchasing those abilities as you earn money in the game.

Kidz Bop is a Wii-only game geared primarily towards the Kidz Bop audience aged between 5 and 12 years-old. It will come out this September.
