Let's Dance!

No matter where you looked at E3 2010, the big news was all about two things – Motion Control and 3D. So it stands to reason that Konami, heavy hitters in the dance/rhythm game scene, would have something new to offer fans of the genre. For starters, they are bringing forth another iteration of Dance Dance Revolution or DDR, as it has come to be known. DDR for Wii has everything you’d expect from the series including a new crop of high energy songs plus some old favorites, a new Choreograph Style Mode that incorporates not only a dance mat, but also the Wii Nunchuk and Wii-mote for full body dancing. You can also use the Wii Balance Board and play the Traditional Mode as well. In a new Multiplayer Mode, players can participate with our without a Dance Pad or play along using just the Wii-Mote and Nunchuk.

But now, for a taste of the future, those hardcore DDR fans will want to check out Dance Master, a game that makes use of Microsoft’s Kinect and kicks it to the next level, quite literally. Here, there are no peripherals to tie you down. You can dance freely to 30 different tracks, unlocking them as you go by completing music set lists. There are four different difficulty levels from Light all the way to the intense Stealth level and 2 people can play at once. There’s a Status Mode for earning and collecting titles, plus you can play against other dancers all across the globe on Xbox Live. Music genres include everything from Pop, Hip Hop, R&B and Techno, so there’s something on here for every fan of dance games. You can even save your moves and view them as a backup dancer to perfect your style. DLC is expected with Icon packs, Theme Packs and additional Dance Sequences. Keep this one on your radar for the upcoming holiday season.
