Relive the glory days of the TurboGrafx-16 with their console mascot, Bonk, in his newest adventure, Bonk: Brink of Extinction coming to Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and WiiWare later this year.

Following the trend of recent acclaimed reboots, Hudson has decided that Bonk is in line for a reboot of his own. Bonk: Brink of Extinction is the first fully rendered 3D world for their prehistoric pre-pubescent hero. This charming 2D platformer will include new enemies, collectables, and downloadable content for gamers young and old.

Bonk’s home world is threatened by a large comet that is headed straight for his village. As the comet breaks apart and sends shards all over the dangerous land, the magnetic energy is also making all the creatures and animals go crazy. It’s up to Bonk to bite, jump, and headbutt his way to victory through volcanoes, jungles, and deserts. Bonk even brought along some help with co-op play fully integrated into the storyline.

Gamers can expect 30 levels of side-scrolling platforming plus a few bonus rooms and tons of hidden items. With all new boss encounters, Bonk is now able to learn new abilities by eating meat or stumbling upon Primordial Ooze and he will need those skills in order to take down all the creatures that stand between him and saving the day.

Bonk: Brink of Extinction plays just like you’d expect. The bright and colorful world compliment the tight controls and platforming sections nicely. If there are any TurboGrafx-16 loyalists out there, or anyone who is a fan of 2D platforming, you need to give Bonk: Brink of Extinction a chance to charm your pants off this Fall.
