WB Unveils Injustice

I am not a fan of fighting games. In fact, I outright stink at them. With me, matches aren’t so much about skill as they are bouts of panic-driven button-mashing. That, however, wasn’t enough to keep me away from Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. I may not like fighting games, but my love of superheroes (and everything superhero-related) overrides just about everything.

It should come as no surprise then that I suddenly find myself interested in WB’s Injustice: Gods Among Us, a DC Universe-based fighter from NetherRealm, the studio behind the most recent Mortal Kombat.

The announce trailer, which shows off some (presumably) in-game action, lists off a short roster of DC characters set to make an appearance. The list includes DC’s “Trinity” of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, as well as Flash, Harley Quinn, and Solomon Gundy. The trailer also seems to set up an “alternate universe” sort of tale, with the heroes suddenly becoming a threat. Character designs also seem to support this, with the heroes donning armored versions of their iconic costumes, which look like a mix between their pre-DCnU and current costumes.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is set for a 2013 release on PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.
