Limbo Inferno

It is the opinion of this reviewer that the Devil May Cry franchise needs a reboot. Lucky me, right? Not only is this happening, but it's in the hands of a different developer this time around. Ninja Theory, the English developers behind Heavenly Sword and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West have the reins now. Lots of fans cried foul when they first saw protagonist Dante's new look, but there's much more to a Devil May Cry game than its aesthetics. Personally, I think DmC: Devil May Cry could turn out to be the best installment in the series.

Not much is known about DmC's story yet, other than the fact that it takes place in a parallel universe in the series. Our smartass teenaged hero finds himself in Limbo City, a place that seems to have a mind of its own. By that, I mean it frequently goes out of its way to kill Dante whenever he finds himself in range of one of the city's many security cameras.

Most gamers know Dante as the Son of Sparda, a legendary demon who sympathized with humanity. In this reboot, Dante is half demon and half angel. It will be interesting to see how this affects both the story and the gameplay, though it is quite a departure from the original games.

DmC: Devil May Cry is currently slated for a January 15 release.
