Silent Hill Goes Co-Op

If there’s an E3 award for “Game Most Unlike Any Other in the Series,” Silent Hill: Book of Memories is in the running. While past games have largely been solo, third-person affairs, Book of Memories opts for a top-down view and adds co-op for a little extra boost.

The game’s setup involves a mysterious book containing your complete biography up to this point in time. You soon discover that, even though the past is clearly in the past, it isn’t exactly written in stone. The book’s contents can be altered, allowing you to change the past – offering ultimate control over your life.

Many of the game’s signature elements – scare rooms, limited resources and creepy atmosphere – are still around, only now you’ll see them from an entirely new perspective. The game will also feature enemies pulled from past games and, in a new twist, adds the option to create your own character.

Co-op elements (which allow for up to four players) will, of course, include combat elements, though you’ll also have to work together to solve puzzles as you travel through your memories to uncover all of the book’s secrets.

Look for Silent Hill: Book of Memories this October.
