Dead Island 2 Makes Shocking Debut

Remember the original Dead Island? The one that became known for the disparity between its infamously emotional debut trailer and the hallmark of bad taste that the finished product ultimately was? It's getting a sequel. No, Dead Island: Riptide didn't count at all.

Along with its new status as an actual franchise, Dead Island 2 is being developed by Spec Ops: The Line studio Yager. If you thought that would ultimately result in a serious apocalypse along the same lines as Sony's The Last of Us, you'd be dead wrong. If anything, it appears to be going the way of Borderlands, where precious little is taken seriously.

This Unreal Engine 4-powered sequel may be something of a misnomer, though. The islands of the previous two games have been left behind in favor of... Southern California. Broad and vague, but at this point, that's all we currently know.

Dead Island 2 is slated for release at an undisclosed 2015 date for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Check out this trailer. It's... well... just watch it. We'll be back with more details as they become available.
