BOOM Goes the Dynamite!

Sega hopes to blow up the gaming world with Sonic Boom, an entirely new branch of the Sonic universe, taking the videogame icon in a new direction that not only includes a new game for the Wii U and the 3DS, but also a new toy line with TOMY and a CG-animated TV series on Cartoon Network. If you grew up loving Sonic, here's a chance to ingrain your little ones with a brand new twist on a beloved character. While we don't know much about the new Sonic Boom games, expect classic Sonic speed and action and to see some familiar faces like Tails, Amy and Knuckles, but also a new friend and team member named Sticks. She's a cutie-pie. Plus a super snarky Sonic, of course. As for the enemies, how about an ancient evil reptilian dude named Lyric who wears a robotic body of armor and controls an army of massive mechanized creatures? From what we've seen, the games will be different experiences, but involve the same battle against Lyric and his army of bots. Check out the screens and trailers below for a taste of Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric for the Wii U and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal (the working title) for the 3DS.
