Don't Look, Just Run!

Feeling brave? Then you’ll be excited to know that The Evil Within will soon escape! Developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda, The Evil Within is, as the title may suggest, a Survival Horror game. Fans of the genre will be pleased to know that Shinji Mikami, the father of Resident Evil, is the director for this game and will definitely deliver a bone-chilling experience.

Players are thrust into the role of Detective Sebastian Castellanos as he investigates a mass murder, only to be thrown into a terrifying world full of monsters and hideous creatures. Kind of turns you off being a detective, right?

Players will be able to explore different worlds, which are accessed by mirrors and general exploration, and scavenge whatever they can, such as ammo and health packs in order to survive, while fending off all sorts of creatures.

As with all Horror games, stealth is a player’s best friend. Players will do a lot more sneaking past enemies than shooting, as ammo is scarce and should be used sparingly. Enemies often shrug off bullet wounds anyway, so a gun should only be used to cripple enemies. Sound is also a major factor of the stealth gameplay, as it can give away enemy locations, as well as trap locations which can aid the player with easy kills.

Fortunately, you won’t have to fight with a stick. Players will be able to upgrade Sebastian via an upgrade system in the game, which can be accessed through a chair that looks eerily similar to a torture device and having some sort of Green Gel. Upgrades will range from sprint distance to melee damage.

If all the glorious horror isn't enough to get you to reserve a copy, pre-ordering the game will net you the Fighting Chance Pack, which comes with several items to help you stay alive longer, such as the Medical Kit, some Green Gel, a Double Barrel Shotgun, and Incendiary and Poison Agony Bolts.

Players with nerves of steel can face their demons when The Evil Within releases on October 21st, 2014 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 4, Playstation 3 and PC.
