Marvel Masked Menace Infests Infinity 2.0

The fact that Disney acquired Marvel caused a lot of speculation throughout the fan communities of both. At first, fans held their breath and waited to see what good - or ill - came of this acquisition. In general, however, I think the effects have been viewed as positive.

The latest result of this fusion is that Marvel characters are showing up in Disney Infinity. And, while Captain America has made a pretty strong comeback (as he's known to do from time to time), Disney's latest play set - announced at E3 2014 - The Spider-Man Play Set, is bound to capture the attention and adoration of little boys and girls around the world. Who could help but love everyone's favorite friendly neighborhood Spider-Man?! To top it off, it's an overly cute version of him, to fit with the look of Disney Infinity characters.

This play set features a storyline following Green Goblin in his attempt to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D. with a horde of Venom clones. How can you hope to control that many symbiotes? Why, with the help of Mysterio, of course.

In the Story Mode of the play set, players will be able to play as Spidey, Nick Fury, Iron Fist, Nova and even Venom. Along the way, there will be also appearances by White Tiger, Black Cat and Luke Cage.

In the Toy Box mode, players will have the same list of playable characters, but will also be able to play as any other characters (sold separately) released for Disney Infinity. In addition, once players have completed the Story Mode, they will have access to the S.H.I.E.L.D. hover car, S.H.I.E.L.D. sky cycle and the Daily Bugle building, among others, to be used in the Toy Box Mode. Disney Infinity: Spider-Man Play Set will be swinging onto store shelves this fall, for use with the 2.0 Edition of Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes. This latest offering from Disney Interactive crosses the line, glorifying vigilanteism and fostering hero-worship of that masked menace who swings around this great city with his daring-do, littering the streets with that infernal webbing of his and wreaking havoc on the streets.
