Street Fighter X Tekken: DLC Characters
Score: 88%
Publisher: Capcom
Developer: Capcom
Media: Download/1
Players: 1 - 2
Genre: Fighting

What Do You Get?:

What’s good DLC for a fighting game? New characters. What’s better? New characters that aren’t palette swaps of existing characters. This round of Street Fighter X Tekken DLC gives you 12 completely new characters for the game. You could argue that the characters from the Street Fighter side were simply moved over from Street Fighter IV, but Elena is completely new to both games, making her first reappearance since Street Fighter III, and her first time being rendered in 3D.

With this pack, you get the Street Fighter characters Blanka, Cody, Elena, Guy, Dudley, and Sakura. You also get the Tekken characters Alisa Bosconovitch, Bryan Fury, Christie Monteiro, Jack-X, Lars Alexanderson, and Lei Wulong. That makes the Tekken side of the select screen pretty robot heavy, for anyone keeping track. That also gives you the opportunity to make some new kick-ass crossover teams, like a leg-heavy team up of Elena and Christie, or a super furry team up of Kuma and Blanka.

Worth Fighting For?:

These new characters are a pretty balanced group. You’ve got heavy hitters like Dudley, and technique heavy characters like Christie. Of course, classic favorites like Elena, Sakura, and Blanka are always a plus. These are all full-fledged characters, completely rounded out move-wise and ready to go. They have story and preset teams as well, just like the rest of the game's characters.

I’m such an Elena fan, that might just do it for me, but it’s still about 20 bucks for the pack, and you can't purchase individual fighters instead of the pack. Still, the amount of variety this adds on to the game is pretty big. No one is copied from any existing character in the game, everyone is fresh. If you could ask for more, it would be to have a few more backgrounds that are tied to specific characters’ origins, but Street Fighter X Tekken isn’t very big on that kind of thing anyway. Even if you know a character from their previous fighting game appearance, there are new combos and moves to be learned for Street Fighter X Tekken. A good bit of balance and variety comes with these characters, so if you were looking to inject new life into your game, this is a great pack to pick up.
