Function: The Game Boy Advance SP introduced new functionality in its product by including a built-in battery and embedded lighting device. In the past, lighting devices and battery packs were the centerpiece of third party products when it came to GBA hardware. The emergence of this 'all in one' fix seems to have left the third parties searching for something else to focus on. Thankfully for them, Nintendo did not make the SP completely perfect. The built in battery requires charging every eight to ten hours, and it also requires an odd shaped adapter in order to use earphones. Nyko decided to fix both of these problems with one solution. The Nyko Travel Kit SP sets up avid users with a car charger with built in audio adapter and stereo headphones for use in their GBA SP.
Performance: The Travel Kit SP comes equipped with three individual items: an adapter piece which plugs into the GBA SP power adapter port, a set of stereo headphones, and a DC car adapter. The DC adapter and stereo headphones both plug into the adapter piece. In fact, the adapter piece can accept any device that would normally plug into the power adapter port, and can also accept any standard sized headphone. If you are a gamer on the go that likes to listen to the powerful audio of the GameBoy Advance, but cannot let others hear, then this adapter solution is your answer. You can now use any GameBoy devices, along with a headphone set at the same time you're charging it. When using the car adapter, the GBA SP does not have to be off, although in order to charge fully, it would probably be wise to do so. Nevertheless, using a car adapter while on small or large trips can help to ensure your GBA SP does not die while in the middle of an important session of Metroid Fusion.

Drawbacks & Problems:: While the kit is exceptional, and provides excellent quality of sound and charging times, nothing can be completely perfect. The wire cord for the DC adapter is not as flexible as other cords, which makes it seem slightly bouncy. Also, because of the arrangement of the GBA SP's ports, the adapter port has to protrude slightly out of the back of the GBA SP in order to make sure the other adapter port is still accessible. It may be difficult to store the GBA SP with an adapter plugged in using traditional storage packs. Otherwise, you may need to unplug the adapter.
