GBA SP Magnifier (MagLENS)
Score: 40%
Developer: MadCatz

Function:

For those disappointed in the size of their GBA SP screen, this little gadget comes to the rescue, or at least tries to. The Mad Catz MagLENS, as the name almost implies, is a magnifying device for GBA SP. However, the low price tag is relative to its magnification power, as it only enlarges the screen by about 50 percent.

Performance:

The MagLENS does do what it promises, though. Sitting tightly (very tightly) on the back of your GBA, it flips out to a comfortable distance from your screen to enlarge the viewing area. There is little glare present when using this gizmo, and little to no distortion. And when you don't feel like looking at a close-up of Mario, it can fold back, nearly out of your way. It does make things a little heavy, though, but you don't need to be a power-lifter to wield your GBA SP with this attached.

Features:
  • Enlarges your small GBA SP screen
  • Flips out from the back of your GBA SP when you want to use it
  • Attaches snugly to the latches already present on the GBA SP shell
  • Low price tag

Drawbacks & Problems::

Though it comes at a low price, you won't really need the MagLENS unless you're going blind. It doesn't magnify all that much, and its image enlarging powers are far outweighed by its bulkiness. Though it flips around to the back of the GBA SP when you don't want to use it, it's not exactly out of the way. When in this 'stow away' mode, you'll have plenty of trouble reaching the shoulder buttons, which it obstructs. Also, you'll cringe as you try to detach the damn thing from its death grip for fear of doing some harm to the system itself. However, if you REALLY want a magnifying lens at a low price, you won't find anything much better than this.
