Intensor Chair
Score: 99%
Developer: BSG Labs
Device Type: Miscellaneous
Compatible With:

Function:

The audio controls are simple and straight forward - one knob controls the volume, and a second enhances the strength of the vibration at a given volume, essentially a tone control. Add the power switch located on the Intensor power supply unit, and that's it. The controls are located on the top of the surface of the seat area, in the very front, around one of the built- in speakers. At first, these seem to be in awkward locations, but after using it for a while, it starts to seem more understandable. This location allows you to easily control the output while remaining seated.

The Intensor was designed to be used with or without the chair base. Taking both modes of use into consideration creates a unique and challenging design task. BSG Labs did an excellent job of meeting the challenge. Mind you, the Intensor as an office chair won't fit in with your other office furniture - unless, of course, your office is aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise.

The Intensor is very solidly built. Constructed of hard plastic with removable cushion pads (attached with velcro), the Intensor cleans up easily. In addition, the cord that connects the Intensor to its power supply unit is a thick, durable cord which terminates in a sturdy connector.

Performance:

The Intensor is an incredible device. It really does add, well... intensity to the gameplay of your games. Gunfire sounds real, thunder shakes you, and the chirping birds and flowing streams seem to surround you. But, if you plan to go for it, buy the whole package. The chair, the base and the subwoofer work together to create an emmersive environment that is nothing short of breathtaking. Welcome to the new frontier of "Home Arcade."

Features:
  • Volume? - Up to 108db!
  • Stylish, futuristic design
  • Pneumatic height adjustment (base)
  • Swivel and tilt base
  • 5-point caster base
  • Room-shaking BASS (subwoofer)

Drawbacks & Problems::

The main problem with the Intensor is the location of the power connector. Being located at the front of the chair, it is easily bumped during operation and while getting onto/off of/or passing by the Intensor. After bumping into this connector several times, the cord may be knocked loose. This connector would have been out of the way if it had been located in the rear of the chair. (This is a minor yet re-occurring problem. If the connector were relocated, the Intensor would DEFINETELY receive a 100% rating.)
