Stinger
Score: 95%
Developer: Pelican

Function:

This baby is awesome!!! The Stinger light gun from Pelican is near perfect right out of the box. With great ease, you will be blasting body parts and saving lives in no time. The Stinger has precision accuracy and easy to access buttons positioned in all the right spots. Once in the battle, just a quick forward flick of you trigger finger reloads your weapon so you won't miss a step.

Performance:

Boy, oh boy, have light guns come a long way! Do you remember playing Duck Hunt on your NES? Remember having to place that sensor on the top of your television for it to work? No need for all that now. The Stinger is one thing and one thing only. A kick-ass gun.

To my knowledge, the only gun game available for the Dreamcast is House of the Dead 2, so as soon as I got my hands on the Stinger, I went out and bought the game. What an experience!!! Anyone that has HotD2 absolutely MUST pick up a gun, and Pelican's Stinger is more than just compatible, it's almost an integration. If you're having some difficulty blowing zombies up fast enough, fear not young Skywalker, 'cuz this light gun has both auto-reload and turbo options for all of your shooting needs.

Features:
  • Compatible with VMU and JUMP PACK
  • Unique Reload Trigger for rapid manual reloading of bullets
  • Built in Jolt Action with On/Off Selector
  • Auto Reload Mode: Single fire with automatic bullet reload
  • Turbo Fire Mode: Turbo fire with automatic bullet reload
  • Comfortable Rubberized Head Grips

Drawbacks & Problems::

The only issue I had with the gun was that of trying to calibrate. Yes, the Stinger works absolutely perfectly out of the box, but when I tried to calibrate it in the game, I absolutely could not get it to work. This may be a problem for any other gun games that come out (Hello game people? We're still waiting!), but it was not an issue for HotD2 because there was no need to calibrate. Just plug this baby in and prepare to dismember!

These small issues aside, Pelican's Stinger is incredible. The game's enhancement is tenfold when using a gun (vs. the controller), and is a must have for everyone! Heck, why not get two so you can invite over a friend to share in the zombie-thrashing madness!
