The Invaders: The Second Season is the classic 1960's series' final season. Unfortunately, the show doesn't really wrap anything up and while the series didn't end in a cliffhanger, it still ends quite unsatisfactorily.

Like the previous season, David Vincent (Roy Thinnes) runs around the country following news of alien attacks in the hopes of foiling whatever plot they have up their sleeves, and also hoping to convince a few more people of the impending attack, though there are a few differences this season. Where the previous run of episodes was completely episodic and independent, there is a bit more continuity here, or at least the semblance of it since there are some actual recurring characters.

Chief among these new characters is Edgar Scoville (Kent Smith), a rich industrialist who believes in Vincent's quest and forms an organization designed to reveal the truth about the invasion. Both Scoville and this organization are introduced in the episode "The Believers."

Other good episodes include "Valley of the Shadow" where Vincent convinces an entire town of the invasion and the aliens have no choice but to get rid of the entire town. So now Vincent has to convince the town that everything was a hoax. Another episode, "The Peacemaker," features Vincent getting an Air Force General to meet with the alien leaders in the hopes of dropping a bomb on them and ending the invasion once and for all.

One of the bigger events of the season is the two-parter, "Summit Meeting." Here Vincent must stop a rocket from destroying all of the world leaders that are gathered together for an important meeting. Then, of course, there is the season finale. In "Inquisition," Vincent and Scoville discover the fact that a high-ranking government official is actually an alien. Of course, convincing the heads of state of this fact isn't an easy task.

Like the previous season, The Invaders: The Second Season features introductions for each episode by Thinnes himself and commentary for "The Peacemaker" by Alan Armer (the series Producer). All-in-all, the show is good and even though it doesn't actually wrap up the show in a nice little bow, it's still an enjoyable series. If you liked the series when it first aired in the 60's or picked up the first season, then you should definitely pick up this DVD set as well.
