The constant battle between Lycan and Vampire returns in Underworld Evolution. The film opens where its predecessor, Underworld left off - with Selene, the lovely vampire Death Dealer and Michael, lycan-vampire hybrid, on the run after having killed a high-ranking vampire leader. Needless to say, if you missed the first one, you might be a bit lost, even though they recap, so watch the original first.

Underworld Evolution provides viewers with far more backstory this go around, delving deeper into the tale of Marcus and William, immortal brothers who became the first Vampire and Lycan. Marcus awakens from his vampire hibernation, only to go on a killing spree in an attempt to reclaim a necklace which holds the key to William's place of imprisonment. At the crux of it all is, once again, Selene who is somehow connected to William's prison via her past as a mere human.

The tale will take many twists and turns along the way and ends with a bang, and hopefully, with the promise of another sequel. There's tons of action to be had here and some very edgy and bloody fights. This one is not for the kiddies as it contains graphic violence and sexual situations. However, for fans of the first one, its quite a joyride.

Special features include simply tons of excellent featurettes that give lots of background to just what went into making this splendid film, along with commentary and a music video. Truth be told, if you enjoyed the first Underworld, you'll love this one. It's a great vampire flick with some nail-biting (or is that neck-biting?) moments and its sure to please.
