It seems like there are a lot of new "tween" shows on Disney lately. Sonny with a Chance is one of the new ones that I have recently had the pleasure to watch. Now, normally I don't really care for these type shows as they usually seem too over the top for my tastes, but there are a very few lately that I have liked and I'm pleased that Sonny with a Chance is one of them!

Sonny Munroe (Demi Lovato) is a small town girl from Wisconsin who gets her big chance to join the cast of a popular variety show called "So Random." Apparently, she made an impression on the internet crowd, but we haven't really gotten to hear much about how she really got there yet. The first thing I noticed is that Sonny seems way too happy all the time, but then when you think about it, I'm betting that any teen girl who suddenly gets the chance to join her favorite show would probably be that bubbly too! Anyway, needless to say, Sonny is determined to make a good impression on her new castmates so they'll like her. Of course, she's going to have to convince her mom Connie (Nancy McKeon) to go home before she smothers her too much!

The cast is a very wide range of characters. First, there's Zora (Allisyn Ashley Arm). Zora is a very interesting individual to say the least. She's the youngest of the cast, but by far the smartest. When Sonny first meets Zora, she finds her napping in the sarcophagus! I really like Zora though, granted I usually like the weird characters. Then there's Nico (Brandon Smith) and Grady (Doug Brochu). They're best friends and the only guys on the cast of "So Random." They aren't always the brightest of characters, so look out for their jokes! Last but definitely not least is Tawni Hart (Tiffany Thornton). Tawni's like the head cheerleader of the show (her own words). She's definitely not happy about a new, pretty girl joining the cast. She likes to be the center of attention and to get her own way! Together, this crew puts on a really funny show. During Sonny with a Chance, you get to see their variety show as well as their lives as TV stars.

In the second episode, Sonny tries to make peace between the cast of "So Random" and their arch nemesis, the cast of "Mackenzie Falls," a teen drama. This episode marks the intro of Chad Dylan Cooper (Sterling Knight) into the cast of Sonny with a Chance. I can foresee a lot of possibilities with him as a character. You know there's going to have to be a romance between him and either Tawni or Sonny, which could really makes for more fights between Tawni and Sonny.

The third episode deals with school life on a set. Sonny has to learn that although she's there for the show, she has to also manage her school life as well. Tawni and Sonny also find they can get along sometimes. I really like that they make you think about grades and school, even in Hollywood. It helps to make the cast feel more like normal teens. Nico and Grady learn that their plans really don't work, they should just listen to Zora more, and they should be more careful with snakes! The fourth episode re-sparks the fight between "Mackenzie Falls" and "So Random." Chad decides to drive a wedge between the cast of "So Random" and pull Sonny away from the rest of them.

Also included on the DVD are several bonuses, like a bonus episode of the show and an episode of Mackenzie Falls, just so you can finally see the show! It also has Demi's audition for the show. As you can tell, there is a lot packed into the one DVD. I didn't request to review this show, but now I'm glad that it was given to me. Sonny with a Chance is highly amusing without being annoying in any way. If you like comedy, I recommend you go pick it up today!
